Minnesota officials hit Bloomington-based insurance and health care company Health Partners with a consent order for allegedly violating laws related to mental health parity.
State and federal laws prohibit health insurance companies from evaluating mental health diagnoses or treatments more stringently than they do for other forms of care.
“This is one example of our commitment to enforcing mental health parity laws and making sure that Minnesotans can get access to the coverage that they’ve paid for,” said Commerce Commissioner Grace Arnold. “We want to make sure that people have fewer barriers, and this is a way…

UnitedHealthcare says some NC customers affected by data breach
The health insurance provider sent notices to customers earlier this month.
CHARLOTTE, NC — UnitedHealthcare insurance customers in North Carolina will want to double check their mailboxes to see if their data was affected by a breach that happened earlier this year.
The provider said it identified suspicious activity on the UHC mobile application on Feb. 22, 2023 that may have led to the disclosure of member information. However, the provider stressed Social Security Numbers and driver’s license numbers were not involved.

Hygienist Katie Wheeler cleans Sarahi Dominguez Rodriguez’s teeth during a Tri-County Dental mobile clinic, part of the Robert Glass Focus on the Children program, on March 21, 2023, at Appleton Bilingual School in Appleton, Wis.
When the Odle family had a career change, all five of their kids lost dental insurance.
“Unfortunately, our dental insurance changed, so we didn’t have any for the kids, which was terrifying because we had to,” said their mother, Judy. “It’s so important.”
The Odles were able to start getting care from Tri-County Dental, a volunteer-driven dental clinic serving people in Calumet, Outagamie and Winnebago…
