Indigenous mobile health service launched in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside

A new primary care program launched in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside aims to deliver health care to women in a culturally appropriate manner. The Women’s Mobile Primary Care Program’s new mobile health unit van teams doctors, nurses and social workers with Indigenous knowledge keepers, elders, and healers to provide care from an Indigenous perspective. A Wednesday press conference to announce the launch of the new mobile unit started with a traditional blessing where cedar leaves were washed onto the van. Kettering Health hires firm to look into misconduct allegations

The anonymous complaints accuse Manchur of expensing trips and using hospital network funds to remodel his home, and involve Weigley’s automobile expenses, among other things. Manchur and Weigley were not able to be reached for comment. Complaints to the AG’s office also referenced additional Kettering Health executives. A complainant who identified as an employee alleged Manchur had “the CFO hide true finances at board meetings, not allowing true financials to be shown.” The current interim president of Kettering Health is Michael Mewhirter, who was formerly a CFO for Kettering Health, but he was not referenced by name in the complaints.…

The Board of Health holds meeting in Millersport

The Fairfield County Board of Health held a meeting March 8 in the Millersport Schools District Auditorium. Members of the Board of Health are Steven Kapetansky, MD, MPH, President; Brian Oliver, President of ProTemp; Tina Childers and Teresa Wood. Time was given for public comments. It started with a new today segment titled “How often should you…” that debuted July 18. The first topic was showering, which had Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones guessing how often per week a dermatologist might recommend that a person wash up. ShopToday editorial director Adrianna Brach shocked them all by saying that the “consensus is two to three times a week.” The number comes from a 2022 article where multiple dermatologists weighed in.…

Fixing the family doctor shortage in Canada

Whether you have a family doctor or you’re looking for one, chances are you have had to endure long wait times to see them or find them. Last year, the Angus Reid Institute reported there were six million Canadians without a family doctor, and a third of them said they had been searching for more than a year.
