Colorado’s Behavioral Health Administration has a new interim commissioner less than a year after it was officially launched.
The administration opened shop in July under the Colorado Department of Human Services, and is meant to coordinate and improve the state’s mental health and addiction programs.
Its first commissioner, Dr. Morgan Medlock, was chief medical officer and director of crisis and emergency services for the Washington, DC, Department of Behavioral Health before being recruited to Colorado in January 2022.

‘A step too far’: Alberta woman raises concern over newly-privatized lab tests
It was a routine test Sheryl Parkin had received in Alberta many times before.

Doctor denied position at Merritt, BC emergency room
The ongoing closures of the emergency room at the Nicola Valley Hospital in Merritt, BC, have local residents calling for help.
Many believe it’s just a matter of time before someone dies due to an ER closure.
A solution has presented itself, but Interior Health says it’s not up to their standards.
“We have these three mountain pass highways (and) the Coquihalla highway all merging into our town and I mean if that ER is closed, someone’s going to die. Someone will die here,” said community advocate Georgia Clement.
