Members of a union that represents about 7,000 rural paramedics and emergency dispatch, respiratory therapists, lab and diagnostic technologists, and other allied health professionals in Manitoba have voted overwhelmingly in favor of a strike mandate.
The Manitoba Association of Health Care Professionals, whose membership also includes social workers, pharmacists, physiotherapists and dietitians, among workers in many other professions, says its members voted 99 per cent in favor of adopting a strike mandate.

It was a routine test Sheryl Parkin had received in Alberta many times before.
“I was here for lab work and an EKG,” she said, referring to an electrocardiogram test, in which sensors (electrodes) are attached to the chest and limbs to help detect heart-related conditions.

PEOPLE has confirmed that the 55-year-old actor is still in a Georgia medical facility, having tests run following the “medical complication” his daughter Corinne Foxx spoke out about last week.

Employee mental, physical health taking toll on workforce, says Manulife
Employee health is taking an increasing toll on workforce productivity, according to Manulife’s Wellness Report, which calculated an average of 48 days lost per employee due to health-related problems in 2022.
According to Manulife, employee absences and presenteeism – when employees report to work but don’t actually work – are costing employers around $645 million annually. Workers aged 18 to 24 show poorer results in mental, physical, and financial health indicators compared to older age groups, correlated with greater losses in overall productivity.

Park district to test autonomous lawn mowers at 3 parks; deadline for Naperville art competition set for April 11; NAMI DuPage hosting fundraiser for mental
The Naperville Park District will be testing the use of autonomous electric lawn mowers this month in three parks: White Eagle Park, 3140 White Eagle Drive; Kingshill Park, 4271 White Eagle Drive; and Monarch Park, 1585 White Eagle Drive.
The district has contracted with Havenshine Technologies Inc., based in Naperville, which will provide the mowers and staff to supervise the mowers in each park.
