Effective communication builds stronger relationships, and that’s no different when it comes to health insurance plans and their members. Thoughtful and proactive engagement has always been a reliable way to get members to take action on their health and help close gaps in health equity, but it’s now a “must-have” instead of a “nice-to-have.”
It’s clear that health equity has become a higher priority in recent years. For example, the National Committee for Quality Assurance introduced new quality measures, including the Social Need Screening and Intervention measure. These measures encourage…

People with physical disabilities hold limited positions as scholars, teachers, or leaders in physical education, recreation, and sports. Most people generally give their health insurance a positive grade, but according to a new KFF survey, those who are in poorer health tend to give lower ratings. The sicker they are, the less positively they feel about their coverage.

People on Medicare also tend to rate their insurance more positively (at a…
Ford government to open clinic at site of shuttered Minden ER
After weeks of pressure over the recent closure of a hospital emergency department in Minden with the busy summer cottage season approaching, the Ontario government says it will fund an urgent care clinic on the premises — but without doctors.
The plan is to have the clinic open on weekends starting June 30, and staffed by nurse practitioners and nurses, Health Minister Sylvia Jones said in a statement Tuesday.
Emergency cases will still have to make the 25-minute trip to the nearest hospital emergency room in Haliburton, which local residents have warned could result in life-threatening delays in care.
