Premier Smith worries Alberta’s health system losing focus given diffuse roles, priorities
Premier Danielle Smith says she’s concerned Alberta’s health-care delivery agency is being pulled in too many directions.
Smith says she has asked Health Minister Adriana LaGrange to revamp the structure of Alberta Health Services, better known as AHS, to make it more responsive to regional needs.

Teamsters call off strike at trucking company with KC ties after deal to keep benefits
Teamsters from Yellow Corporation announced Monday that The Central States Health and Welfare fund will extend health care benefits for workers at the trucking company, at least temporarily averting a strike, according to a press release from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
Union members had planned to strike starting midnight on Sunday due to the companies’ plans to end health care and retirement benefits for workers and their families.

Tampa General Hospital is expanding health care access, hoping to serve the underserved. Kylie Jones reports.
TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa General Hospital is expanding healthcare access as the Bay Area grows rapidly.
TGH is opening a freestanding emergency department on W. Kennedy Blvd. It’s the hospital system’s third emergency department, joining one in Brandon and the main hospital’s level-one trauma center.
