Walk4Pizza was cited for a number of items, including failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration, according to the inspection report
Newmarket restaurant Walk4Pizza was ordered to temporarily close by York Region Public Health following an inspection last week.
An inspection at the restaurant at 6-350 Davis Dr. found a number of items not in compliance on March 10.
According to the inspection report from public health, it failed to protect food from contamination or adulteration, failed to keep equipment surfaces clean as necessary, failed to ensure a certified food handler was present at all times, and was not in compliance with maintaining required supplies in the washrooms.
Food handler education was carried out on site, a mandatory food handler certification was required, and a closure order was issued.
A re-inspection was also ordered but York Region Public Health has not said whether that inspection occurred yet or reported the results.
Public health carries out regular inspections under the Health Protection and Promotion Act and issues charges — notices with set fines — and orders, which are written or verbal directions to correct a health hazard. The results of these inspections are reported online weekly.
The region said the report guarantees the condition of the food premises at the time of inspection only and does not warrant the condition at any other time.
