A new study led by researchers from the Mass General Brigham healthcare system suggests that taking a “food is medicine” approach could increase nutrition security for families and lead to reductions in body mass index (BMI) in children. OFF TOPIC: When it comes to healthy eating, we can pay now or pay later
A common piece of advice when it comes to maintaining a healthy diet is to fill your cart from the outside aisles of the grocery store.
That’s where you’ll find the meat department, dairy case and, most importantly, the produce section – all the least-processed offerings in the building.

Losing weight isn’t as easy as it seems. You have to indulge in rigorous workouts, stay committed to your long-term goals, cut down on your favorite foods or delicacies, and most of all, show up every day for yourself. An apple a day keeps the discord away
Several years ago, when Gwyneth Paltrow tried to show how people on low incomes can still eat healthily, she was roasted online for posting a $29 grocery haul that includes scallions, cilantro, seven limes and two types of leafy greens.
Now, now — let us not re-ridicule Ms. Paltrow for dreaming big. This is not a problem with her. This is a problem with the system.

Grocery prices making healthy food unaffordable for BC families, report says
Many BC families in lower-income households cannot afford to have healthy, nutritious diets due to food costs.
A BC Center for Disease Control report, Food Costing in BC 2022found that the average cost for a nutritious diet for a family of four in May and June 2022 was $1,263 per month.
“Food insecurity is a significant public health issue,” said Dr. Geoff McKee, BC Center for Disease Control’s medical director of population and public health.
“The price of food does not affect everyone equally and the root cause of household food insecurity is low income.”
